She sees her escape in her boyfriend, local golden boy Seamus Doogan. When Jolene manipulates a proposal from Seamus, his brother Garda Donie Doogan will do anything to prevent the marriage. Donie tries to track down Seamus' teenage obsession Síofra McShane but there's no flies on Jolene who is determined to get her wedding fast-tracked, by any means necessary!
"The Woods" are home to every murky secret in Belltown. After years of trying, Doc Little finally gets ownership of them via a poker game. He plans to fill the site with concrete and build a stucco house on top for Jolene and Seamus. While Doc hopes his plans will free him from his past they send local sleaze ball Velvet Mullen into a fury and prodigal aristocrat Síofra McShane into battle mode. As Jolene and Seamus toast their engagement, Velvet takes out his rage on reclusive Randy Little and Síofra descends on The Woods with her band of Eco Warriors in tow. In the "paradise" of Belltown, the trouble has only just begun.
Episode 2: If You Go Down To The Woods Today...
It's the morning after the engagement party and Jolene is blissed-out when word arrives that Eco-Warriors have set up camp in The Woods. Doc and Seamus go to investigate but when they return Doc is in a panic while Seamus is strangely distracted. Annie is freaking that Randy didn't sleep in his bed last night and Seamus is quick to go looking for him... too quick. Jolene happily presses on with her wedding plans but Seamus isn't looking for Randy, he's in back in The Woods with his teenage obsession: Siofra Mc Shane.
Fr.Brazil's protest has shut down Velvet's Lap dancing Club. Already broke, Velvet goes wild when he hears the Eco Warriors are digging in The Woods. Donie is delighted to discover that Siofra is among the Eco Warriors and will to do anything to keep her in Belltown, whatever it costs him. Fr. Brazil is furious that Donie's in no rush to get the Warriors out. Convinced they are druggies he's determined to take matters in hand. But everyone in Belltown knows you shouldn't go down The Woods at night.
Meanwhile in the chipper, Jolene doesn't seem bothered about the Crusties but when she turns around she catches sight of her greatest fear: Síofra Mc Shane... why it's enough to make a girl drop her chips.
Episode 3: You ain't woman enough to take my man
Jolene agrees to save the trees if Síofra gets out of town. A wad of cash seals the deal and Jolene wants to keep her word. Doc freaks out and insists he's going to knock the trees anyway. But Síofra's going nowhere; she's using Jolene's money to shore up the Warriors' defences.
With The Woods occupied, Donie's a busy man suspicious activities are spilling onto the streets of Belltown. As Jolene gets her Wedding Dress fitted, Seamus is back in The Woods with Síofra helping her to spike the trees.
When Jolene realizes Síofra double-crossed her it's all out war. But the Warriors are one step ahead of Jolene and chain themselves to the Bulldozers. Donie refuses to do anything and Jolene has to bribe the bulldozer drivers to return at midnight and level The Woods.
Jolene's on edge and when Seamus finally shows up, they fight and he storms off. At the Goldrush bar, Velvet Mullen puts the bulldozer drivers out of action and makes for The Woods. The Warriors discover him slinking around the camp and Velvet is forced to party with them. While Donie investigates suspected Dogging at the Church car park Aenghus disappears from the camp. The Eco Warriors have vandalized the bulldozers, Jolene demands Donie arrests them but Donie is relishing Jolene's distress. There's no support for her either at the Hacienda. Jolene is used to dealing with the family's messes but where are they when she needs them?
In the Woods last night's prank is wearing thin with Velvet who is still chained to the tree and Aenghus has the key. Aenghus hasn't returned because he's being held captive in a disused IRA bunker. Beside him another captive: the missing Fr. Brazil. It appears there's a psycho on the loose.
Donie has swapped sleeping for his growing compulsion to watch the dogging at the church. Now he's under pressure as Belltown gets out of control. Donie is counting on the warriors getting the injunction he paid for and when they don't get it he takes out his frustrations on Drubber: and it ain't pretty.
Jolene eventually finds Seamus doing the shopping. Her relief is short-lived: she spots him adding a box of Tampons to his basket. Realizing her fears have come true, Jolene has to do what a gal's got to do.
Mental Walshe is only too happy to oblige Jolene in cutting down the trees. But Siofra has already spiked the tree and the chainsaw backfires injuring him. There's a showdown as Jolene goes wild and when the elusive Seamus shows up she begs him to come with her. Much to Donie's delight, Seamus stays where he is. Jolene is distraught.
In the bunker the kidnapper returns: it's Randy Little.
Episode 5
A bereft Jolene wakes to a world without Seamus. Annie' comforts her daughter with equal measures of drink and clichés. With dreadful timing and riddled with guilt, Doc "confesses" that he's lied about the Little's fortune.
Donie, satisfied Jolene and Seamus are over, needs to get the town back on track. Síofra's served her purpose and he wants rid of her, but the girl ain't for turning.
Jolene recoils as Doc recounts how a botched robbery of a Hiace full meat resulted in him burying a priceless art collection in the woods. Doc then sold the Hiace to a Traveller friend who discovered a Fabergé egg in the back. They sold it and split the money: a million each. Jolene's anger turns to shame and she falls apart. Everything she's fought against is a lie. Everything they say about the Littles is true.
Being trapped, chained to the tree has forced Velvet to face his demons. But having spent the last 24 hours with a sack over his head, he's become his victim: a horse.. and a very famous horse at that. More things are stolen from camp and Nikki wants to split. Síofra resorts to ever more desperate measure to keep them there. No one is safe from her manipulation and when Seamus gets his kiss he's convinced their love is fate.
In the bunker Randy's need for connection is misinterpreted by Aenghus. Fr Brazil is sure he can get through to Randy via the medium of rap much to Aenghus' despair. Randy turns his troubled mind to the paintings he has found in the woods for solace.
Jolene's humble apologies and pleas for forgiveness are freaking Seamus out. But her penitence is short lived when she discovers Seamus lied about looking for Randy. Suddenly, all too clearly, she sees his betrayal. Seamus just wants to get back to writing his brutal poems.
Síofra will kiss anyone to get what she wants, including Nikki, but maybe this time it actually means something to her. Nikki won't be leaving camp after all.
Donie's scheming has brought out his dark side and now he's losing control of it. The dogging at the church car park has been keeping him up at night but now Donie graduates from observer to participant. He gets into a car.
Jolene is haunted by fears for Randy and tormented by her own negligence. While Randy is busy making an art gallery of the bunker things are looking dodgy for his hostages.
