Story 1 - On the campaign trail
Cllr Sean Connick had been selected by Fianna Fail to contest the next General Election, due to take place in May 2007.
Sean Connick is a wheelchair user because of a road traffic accident 29 years ago. Sean has overcome many challenges in his life and is well known for his business acumen, community work and his ability to get the job done.
We follow the campaign trail from the inside . We document Sean in his day to day routine from the launch of his campaign to the tense moments of the final count. We reveal what it is really like to be a politician, the energy, commitment and drive it takes to succeed.
Born in New Ross in 1964, Connick has been involved in politics in New Ross since 1999 and has been the driving force behind many of the initiatives that are now benefiting the people of New Ross and surrounding areas. We look at the attitude in the constituency towards his disability and the extent to which it influences peoples' choices - if any.
"This is my All Ireland Final" said Connick speaking of the task that lies ahead in sporting parlance. "With the support of the people, of New Ross and Co Wexford, I know that I can deliver the Seat and in so doing give the people of Co. Wexford a strong voice in Dáil Eireann".
