Street, San Miguel and Death of a Superhero

Not for the first time, US author TC Boyle (The Tortilla Curtain, World's End) examines island life in his novel, San Miguel, a particularly desolate spot off the coast of California. He met up with Sinéad Gleeson (pictured right) on a recent visit to Dublin.

Eithne Jordan tells John Kelly about Street, her exhibition of urban paintings at the RHA until 21st December, and director Ian Fitzgibbon discusses his film Death of a Superhero, starring Andy Serkis and Thomas Brodie-Sangster, with Nadine O'Regan.

As the Arts Council turns 60, it marks the occasion with a series of exhibitions and four short films commissioned with RTÉ. Two of the three-minute films will be premiered on tonight's show: Variations on a Collection by James Kelly and The Nettle Coat by Pat Collins and Sharon Whooley.

Singer-songwriter Eric McGrath joins us in studio - see him live at Whelan's, Dublin on Saturday 24th November - and catch a glimpse of Maurice Sweeney's new documentary, W.B. Yeats: No Country For Old Men, which will be broadcast at 10.15pm, RTE 1, on Tuesday 27th November.
