The Guests
This week's guests are comedian and writer Kevin Gildea, producer Bill Hughes and National Women's Council Director Susan McKay.

The Film: Up in the Air

Directed by Jason Reitman, 'Up in the Air' stars George Clooney as Ryan Bingham. Bingham is a man who flies all over America just doing his job: firing people - or as his company prefers to term it, "corporate downsizing". He lives his entire life in airports and hotels, he knows all the moves, and he really loves his unattached life - no commitments and no responsibilities. Not so much on the road but literally up in the air. 'Up in the Air' opens nationwide this Friday.

The Book: The Blaze of Obscurity

Back in 1982 Clive James left his job as a TV critic for the Observer to take a full time job as a television presenter - the classic 'gamekeeper-turned-poacher' move. His programmes were popular programmes and successful and featured everything from interviews with the likes of Hugh Hefner to clips of those Japanese endurance shows we used to laugh at so much - never for a moment thinking we'd one day be making this kind of guff ourselves. In 'The Blaze of Obscurity', the fifth volume of his memoirs, Clive James looks back over his time in television - what he did to it and what it did to him. 'The Blaze of Obscurity; the TV Years', is published by Picador.

The Film: Treeless Mountain

Directed by So Yong Kim, 'Treeless Mountain' is a movie from Korea. It's a tale of two young sisters - Bin and Jin - left at the mercy of a drunken aunt while their mother goes off in search of their wandering father. This isn't going to be easy for children so young, but just before she goes, mother makes them a promise. 'Treeless Mountain' is at selected cinemas nationwide.

The Exhibition: Ten Miles Round

Now on at the Gallery of Photography in Dublin, 'Ten Miles Round' is a new exhibition from Jackie Nickerson - winner of the 2008 AIB Prize. In large-scale colour landscapes and portraits, she explores the very particular territory of rural, coastal Co Louth in images which certainly challenge conventional notions of what exactly is picturesque - lots of muddy lanes and hedgerows here - and of course the people themselves. 'Ten Miles Round' by Jackie Nickerson is at the Gallery of Photography until 31 January.

The Performance: David Turpin

We leave you with music from David Turpin whose second album, 'Haunted', is currently on release. He performs for us 'Red Elk'.
