'The Jacket', directed by John Maybury and starring Adrien Brody, is the story of Jack Starks - an injured US Marine sent home from the Gulf War suffering from amnesia. When a local police officer is then murdered, Starks finds himself in a straight-jacket, pumped full of experimental drugs and shoved into a drawer usually reserved for the dead. In his virtual coffin, Starks' mind understandably begins to wander. The bad news is that, as he travels around inside his own head, he foresees his own death. The good news, however, is that he meets Jackie, played by Keira Knightley.
The Series: Naked Camera
Written and performed by Patrick McDonnell and PJ Gallagher, 'Naked Camera' is a six-part series from RTÉ. It's a familiar enough concept: like 'Candid Camera', 'Beadle's About', 'Punk'd' or 'Ant and Dec', this is one of those shows which puts unsuspecting members of the public in difficult situations and films the results. 'Naked Camera' is on RTÉ Two, Monday nights at 10pm.
The Play: The Goat or Who Is Sylvia?
'The Goat or Who Is Sylvia?' by the American playwright Edward Albee is currently in its first Irish production at the Project in Dublin. It's a Tony award-winning play but for all its success it has been rather controversial in the US - given that the love interest Sylvia is a goat. Starring Bryan Murray as the besotted Martin, Susan Fitzgerald as his wife Stevie and Tadhg Murphy as their son Billy, this is, in Albee's own words a play about "love and loss and limits of our tolerance".
The Book: A Game with Sharpened Knives
'A Game with Sharpened Knives' is the latest novel from Dublin-born writer Neil Belton.
