Holy Show at the Chester Beatty Library
Having just won the European Museum of the Year Award for 2002, the Chester Beatty Library in Dublin has opened an exhibition entitled 'Holy Show' in which 39 Irish artists respond to the Old Testament as it features in the library collection.

The Book: Old Man Goya by Julia Blackburn
The writer Julia Blackburn is the author of novels such as 'The Book of Colour' and the 'Leper's Companion' and other works which combine imagination and fact. Now in 'Old Man Goya' she has turned her attention to the last 35 years of the great Spanish painter.

172nd RHA exhibition
The annual exhibition at the Royal Hibernian Academy occupies a very particular position in the visual arts calendar. It presents over 400 works by the members of the academy as well as invited guests. Last Monday, the 172nd RHA show opened at the Academy's gallery on Ely Place in Dublin.

The performance: The Esbjorn Svensson Trio
Sweeden's Esbjorn Svensson Trio are back after one of 2001's most talked-about gigs, a memorable May night in The Shelter. Formed in Stockholm in 1993, EST have created a unique soundscape that embraces jazz, electronica, dance and folk music. They play Garter Lane Arts Centre, Waterford on 22 May, the Belltable Arts Centre, Limerick on 23 May, Vicar Street, Dublin on 24 May, Lyric Theatre, Belfast on 25 May.
