Salla Tykkä is from Finland and she operates in that constantly growing territory where film and fine art overlap. There is a professional angle to the work, often dealing with sexuality and power and often featuring herself on screen. Now two of her short films 'Thriller' and 'Lasso' are to be shown in Dublin's Meeting House Square.

Exhibition: Patrick M Fitzgerald
The painter Patrick Michael Fitzgerald was born in 1965 in Cork but he's been living for the past fourteen years in northern Spain. 'Morning Hours' at the Rubicon Gallery is his first exhibition in Ireland inspired by his relatively isolated life on the Atlantic coast.

Book: Lady Gregory's Toothbrush
"It is the old battle between those who use a toothbrush and those who don't." So wrote Lady Augusta Gregory to William Butler Yeats back in 1909. She was referring to the riots two years earlier that greeted Synge's 'Playboy of the Western World' and, although she didn't know it at the time, she was also providing the title for Colm Toibín's biographical essay 'Lady Gregory's Toothbrush'.
