Ainsley Harriot Guest Critic
Ainsley is the charismatic, larger-than-life presenter of BBC Two's ‘Ready Steady Cook’. Famous world-wide for his flamboyant style, Ainsley has a huge following and ‘The Restaurant’ is happy to welcome him to the show as Guest Critic.
Ainsley’s lifelong passion for cooking is a tribute to his mother, Peppy, who encouraged him to help her cook for family and friends, in what was always an open house in Balham, south London.
While everybody knows Ainsley as a TV presenter, few people are aware of his culinary background. He started cooking at 16 as a junior trainee in a West End restaurant and gradually worked his way up the ranks working in top hotels and doing catering for special events.
Ainsley’s broadcasting career began when BBC Radio asked him to present their series ‘More Nosh, Less Dosh’. It wasn’t long before TV came knocking and he worked on BBC TV's ‘Good Morning with Anne and Nick’. As his popularity grew so too did his stable of series, such as ‘Can’t Cook, Won’t Cook’, ‘Ainsley's Gourmet Express’, ‘Ainsley's Meals in Minutes’, ‘Ainsley's Big Cook Out’, ‘Ainsley's Barbecue Bible’. Nowadays he is now best known for hosting the hugely popular ‘Ready Steady Cook’.
