“The best for me, and it was fantastic, was the Fish and Chips. We think of it as a very common dish, it is actually really hard to do well – and you did it fantastically. The worst Oh Dear – the Caesar Salad, I hated the caesar salad, I thought the leaves were too big, I thought the dressing was wrong, I didn’t like the shaved parmesan, I didn’t like the single crouton instead of all the little bits and bobs.
I really, really hated that salad.”

Talking about the food,  the programme is called the Restaurant, and I came here with the full understanding that we were going to eat restaurant food. It felt incredibly homely. The real professional bit for me was the Fish and Chips.
The chips were great, not too greasy, I loved the way you dolloped that tartare sauce in there – it wasn’t too fancy, it was just saying I know this is good, try it.
The Caesar Salad did let us down a bit, we all said that.”

The Fish and Chips were absolutely fantastic because they were done as well as that dish can be done. And for the same reason I have to say that I didn’t like the Caesar Salad. Because when you use a name like caesar salad, that is a particular dish, if you want to do your own version of it, well call it Mary’s Caesar Salad.”
