Dubliner Anita is proprietor and head chef of Il Primo; one of the cities longest established authentic Italian eateries, which she took charge of back in 2007. Her Swiss Father was a chef, and she believes her passion for food and respect for Irish produce stems from watching him and her West of Ireland born Mother cooking together, often with vegetables grown in their urban garden.
After studying in DIT Cathal Brugha Street she spent time travelling and working in France and Switzerland, and still travels regularly to Italy and Switzerland. She has appeared on several television shows to date, including the RTE series "Guerrilla Gourmet", where she brought a dining experience to a circus big top for an evening, and indulged diners with one of her signature risotto dishes, for which Il Primo is renowned.
Anita cites everyday people eating everyday food as the thing that really excites her. Her mantra for Il Primo is to source simple fresh ingredients and prepare them with love and respect. "Everybody can cook, but not everybody takes the time to taste".
