Enda Kenny has represented the people of Mayo in Dáil Eireann since 1975, when, at the age of 24, he was first elected in a by-election following the death of his father Henry Kenny.
Enda became leader of Fine Gael in June 2002. Enda is married to Fionnuala O'Kelly and together they have three children - Naoise, Ferdia and Aoibhinn.
Born and brought up in Castlebar, Enda still lives in the town and divides his time between Mayo and Dublin - as well as constantly touring the country.
A fan of Bruce Springsteen, Enda likes to hillwalk, play golf and cycle and climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in aid of three Mayo charities in 2003.
When it comes to food, Enda Kenny knows what he likes! He is a firm believer that the best of ingredients are the foundation for good dishes.
He has brought this belief to the fore with his menu for The Restaurant, featuring wild Atlantic salmon, Clew Bay Oysters and beef from the heart of Mayo.
Enda says that, at home, his contribution to cooking is more along the lines of " a good commis chef", than that of a fully fledged Head Chef.
That said, he is looking forward to the challenge of running The Restaurant's kitchen with his own brand of leadership. Will Enda Kenny's menu be passed at the first reading, or will the critics demand that it be first debated examined at committee stage? Find out in The Restaurant.
