Tom Doorley
‘I have to say the squid didn’t work for me, it was tough, but full marks for trying. My best was, and this was a first for me, the smoked haddock with the egg on top. It was the best thing I’ve ever eaten in not just this series of the restaurant but on the whole six series of the restaurant, and it was the first time that I’ve  ever actually cleared my plate, and I don’t even do that at home so and that was fantastic’.

‘I thought the main courses were spectacular. Specifically the haddock. I just thought it was delicious. And like Tom I have never actually finished a plate in a restaurant. I cleaned it completely! Empty! It was one of the best dishes I have ever eaten.

‘I thought that the apple thing was not terribly exciting, so that would be my worst thing. And I know the benefits and beauty of the smoked haddock, ‘cos that’s one of my favourite things and I’d have that as a supper dish anytime, or even for breakfast if I was terribly hungry. But that lamb was brilliant and to cook it like that, to technically get it right a tour de force and I have to say, that was my favourite’.
