Cathy Kelly is one of Ireland's favourite authors. She has written seven novels to date, all of which have been international best sellers. In 2001 Cathy won Romantic Novel of The Year with "Someone Like You".
Cathy's writing career has seen her move from journalism to being an agony aunt to producing a string of popular books. Cathy spent many years as news journalist, although she admits that features writing would have been more her natural choice.
Her stint on the frontline of news reporting was followed by time as an agony aunt with the Sunday World. She's well able to dispense advice and her challenge today will be to discover if she can take advice from the kitchen team, something she'll need to be able to do to make a success of her menu!
Cathy loves to entertain at home and favours easy to cook dishes which can be served to lots of people. She is very much looking forward to the experience of managing a professional kitchen and hopes the critics won't be too tough on her choice of dishes.
Will Cathy Kelly's stint in our kitchen have a happy ending, or will the critics demand a second draft? Find out in this special end-of-year edition of The Restaurant.
