Presenters
Yvonne Redmond
Yvonne is 23 years old and comes from Carlow town. She speaks fluent Irish having attended gaelscoil and gaelcholaiste. She then studied journalism for four years in DCU - with her co-presenter Stephen O'Shea as it happens!
Yvonne worked in newspapers in Carlow and Kildare and as a newsreader and reporter in local radio.
In 2007 she was chosen as the Carlow representative for the Rose of Tralee.
She loves to travel and one of her favourite places is California, where she spent a college semester on exchange. She also really wants to visit India, Africa and Egypt when she gets the chance.
Her hobbies include swimming, socialising with friends, reading and going to the cinema. She's also a huge Harry Potter fan and is addicted to both the movies and the books, as well as being swept up in the current Twilight trend.
She admits she's a disaster when it comes to anything sports- related, but loves trampolining in her back garden at home and once did a parachute out of a plane for a charity skydive.
Stephen O'Shea
Stephen is 25 years old and from Castledermot in Co Kildare. Having grown up on a farm he's well used to the outdoors but has been a city slicker for five years now.
He studied journalism at Dublin City University for four years. His first love is politics but he balances that out with plenty of music and spending time with his friends. Stephen listens to all kinds of music and says that Mika is a guilty pleasure!
Last year, he worked on political campaigns and in a Kildare newspaper reporting on a little bit of everything. He even had his own kids' corner column that included 'Stephen's Weird and Wonderful Facts'. However, he always wanted to make a move into broadcast media and joined the news2day team in August 2008.
Stephen loves reading, especially autobiographies about famous people. He is also fascinated by skyscrapers.
