There is a range of voluntary organisations in Ireland that
promote positive attitudes to mental health and provide
services to people suffering from mental illness. The following
organisations are the major ones; most of whom have local
branches.

GROW
GROW is a mental health organisation which helps people
who have suffered, or are suffering, from mental health
problems. Members are helped to recover from all forms of
mental breakdown, or indeed, to prevent such happening.

Schizophrenia
Ireland
Schizophrenia Ireland (SI) is the national organisation
dedicated to advocating for the rights and needs of those
affected by schizophrenia and related illnesses and to promoting
and providing best quality services for the people it serves.
There are 31 support groups of parents and relatives around
the country which meet on a monthly basis to discuss issues
around schizophrenia and provide information and support
for all.

Samaritans
The primary aim of Samaritans is to be available at any
hour of the day or night to listen to and befriend those
experiencing personal crises and those in imminent danger
of taking their own lives. All contact is in complete confidence.
Samaritans have 20 branches throughout Ireland. You can
make contact by telephone, email and in some branches by
calling in personally to speak with someone in confidence.

Alcoholics
Anonymous
Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who
share their experience, strength and hope with each other

E.V.E. Limited
Eastern Vocational Enterprises (E.V.E.) Limited is a subsidiary of the Health Service Executive (HSE), providing a range of person-centred community services in Dublin, Wicklow and Kildare on behalf of the Area Health Boards. There are currently 25 locations catering to the needs of approximately 1,000 participants in training programmes, occupational services and Clubhouses annually. The majority of people who come to the service experience mental health difficulties and need varying degrees of support to enable them to live productively in their communities. People also come who experience intellectual disabilties and a range of physical disabilities. They also run a unique training service for people who experience Asperger Syndrome.
