Wednesday, 12 May 2010
Today we get the inside track on the secrets to the stars' fabulous faces. We take inspiration from what the celebs do to see if we can create a more streamlined look for summer. From Cheryl's lovely lashes to Madonna's luminous skin, we give you inside secrets to creating a fresh, dewy look for summer.
Brand name models are just some of the faces that have painted the canvas of Natalie's international career over the last ten years. Beginning in M.A.C. just entering her 20's she quickly shot to pro team status, an elite position held only by one artist in Ireland and the best members world wide. She cut her teeth back stage at fashion weeks seasonally in London, Paris, and Milan working with designers such as Roberto Cavalli, Vivian Westwood, D2squared, Chloe, Just Cavalli, Rick Owens, Christopher Kane, Marni, Jenny Packam, Elle Sabb, Alexander McQueen and many more...
Natalie's background in art has led to a highly creative sought after style and beginning her freelance career she has also stepped into the film industry helping design make ups for British and Irish television. Working exclusively freelance now, based in Dublin, Natalie's shedual keeps her busy at home and abroad.
The look according to Natalie:
"The look is very natural for summer, using the skin as the main feature. It is important to make the right choice when choosing blusher and a good way of doing this is to match the shade of blush as closely to your natural lip colour as possible. Use a cream based blush as this can double up as a perfect shade lip stain. I'm using... blush on Asheena, it also comes in other shades.
To add some texture to the skin Elizabeth Arden's 8hr cream is a nourishing substitute for gloss. Use it over the lip stain for a plum effect, then over the top of the cheekbones, this will make the skin look super healthy and make the cheekbones look stronger.
With the eyes, use Garner tinted roll on under eye moisturiser for a hint of coverage and a dollop of moisture. Use l'Oreal waterproof mascara to groom the eyes. For definition you don't always need to use eye shadows, use 8hr cream over the lids, brow bone and tear ducts to create shape using texture.
1. The Base:
When it comes to base in the summer, you want to get decent coverage but without the heavy, cake feeling of some foundations. Luminosity is key here to give a dewy, light finish that looks sunkissed but not necessarily made up.
Gossip Girl's Blake Lively is a big fan of Chanel's "Teint Innocence" naturally luminous fluid make-up. This gives good coverage but without looking too heavy.
To add texture to the base, Natalie has chosen to use Elizabeth Arden's cult product '8 hour cream' to highlight the cheekbones. This has been a celebrity fave for some time now but Victoria Beckham and Carmen Electra both include it as a staple in their beauty bags.
For bronzer, Natalie has chosen Smashbox "Baked Fusion Soft lights in Stardust". This is a great multi purpose product- to be used on eyes, cheeks and as a bronzer- and celeb fans include Madonna & Charlize Theron.
2. The Eyes:
For summer, Natalie recommends that you keep the eyes simple, light and fresh. Don't go putting heavy colours on the eyes but rather opt for a more natural, clean finish.
To conceal the under-eye baggage, Davina McCall uses Garnier's "Caffeine anti dark circles" -this is great for both relieving tired eyes and covering up the blemishes!
To create very natural eyes, Natalie is using the Smashbox "Baked Fusion Soft lights in Stardust" once again to dust over the lids. To create the dewy finish, Natalie is also using the 8hr cream on the lids.
Although they look 100% naturally fabulous, you do need to consider your brows to create a really groomed finish- Natalie suggests Smashbox's 'Brow Tech' to fill in sparse brows and keep them in place.
To really open the eyes, you need lashings of mascara and for summer, Natalie recommends waterproof mascara to prevent panda eyes when you're sweating! Cheryl Cole is a big fan of L'Oreal's Extra Volume Collagen waterproof mascara and it's a snip at €14.99!
3. The Cheeks
Natalie maintains that cream blusher is best for summer, again it's lighter, more natural and easy to blend. Becca's "Beach tint" in peach is a winner as it is light and radiant, giving a fresher, rosy cheek look than heavy powder. Fashionista and The O.C star Rachel Bilson is a fan of this new, cult brand, as are the Minogue sisters, Nicole Kidman and Kate Hudson! It's an Australian brand and the cheek tint actually won an Allure magazine beauty award in 2006.
4. The Lips
The beauty of this look is that you don't need liners, glosses and lipsticks to create the perfect pout- simply stain the lips with your cream blush and add yet more 8 hr cream for a glossy sheen. This is how to minimise your make -up bag!
