Sharleen Spiteri of Texas fame is here to talk about her new solo album The Movie Songbook and what it is like to be one of the most successful Scottish singers of all time!
Glaswegian, Sharleen Spiteri, is best known for her band Texas, who took their name from the film Paris, Texas. Their debut single I Don't Want a Lover reached number 8 in the UK charts and number 77 in the US charts. They then went on to further success with albums such as Mother's Heaven and White On Blond. Other hits included Black Eyed Boy, In Demand and You Can Say What You Want.
In 2008 Sharleen released her first solo album called Melody, which has now been followed by her second album The Movie Songbook. This latest album is a collection of movie favourites, re-jigged and performed by Sharleen.
And Texas fans will be glad to hear that the band plan to record a new album in 2011.
