Sony Alpha Photography Competition 2010

The prize is a professional digital SLR Sony camera, plus a trip to the world photography exhibition in Cannes, 5 star hotel and 1,000 euros spending money.


Kathryn Thomas - travel presenter on 'No Frontiers' who is no stranger to being on the other side of the camera. Kathryn loves to take photos and always makes sure to pack her camera on her travels.

Finalist No 1: Trish Sullivan:-

Trish is from Cahersiveen in Co Kerry. She took the picture of her son Brian in the garden with the turkeys. Brian asked his Mom to dress him up as a chef and when Trish looked out the window she saw Brian chasing after the turkeys. She thought this would make a great photo and went outside to capture this 'Afternoon to Remember'.

*Trish will be bringing her son Brian with her on set.
*Trish is an amateur photographer and she took this picture about 2 years ago. Last year she completed a photography course at her local college. She is not a professional and just a reminder to say when she took the picture she had no photo experience.

Finalist No 2: Alan Baynes:-

Alan is from Kildare but currently living in Donnybrook working as a Civil Servant.
The picture was taken while travelling in Laos with his girlfriend. They ended up in a picturesque area and everyone was jumping into the water including the novice Buddhist monks.

Alan thought it was a beautiful sight and took the picture of the monks jumping in.
