Will it be "Snowy Morning"? Could it be "Comply or Die"? Or will "Beat the Boys" possibly be the first past the post? Tomorrow, roughly 44 horses and jockeys will run in the Aintree Grand National. Here to tell us who to look out for is Donn McLean and we will be speaking to none other than Paddy Power about who he fancies to take the title of Grand National winner!
Donn is a highly respected commentator on horse racing in both Ireland and the UK. The recipient of a Martin Wills Award for writing in 1993, he began in journalism as the main features writer on racing with The Sunday Independent the same year. He is now the main racing writer with The Sunday Times in Ireland, and writes weekly betting columns for both The Sunday Times and The Irish Field. On the broadcasting front, Donn does a weekly racing and betting slot on Newstalk Radio, and he is a regular contributor to RTE, TV3, Setanta Sports and Racing UK.
As well as his involvement in journalism, Donn has also worked in a number of high profile positions within the Irish racing and betting industries, including as General Manager of Horse Racing Ireland's bloodstock marketing division, Irish Thoroughbred Marketing, and as Marketing Manager of leading betting exchange, Betdaq.
Donn has a wealth of knowledge of both Irish and English racing. His easy and fluid writing style carries on attracting new readers, and avid followers of his betting advice continue to show a healthy profit.
