Liam Mc Kenna
Liam McKenna began his career at 9 years old when he won the Irish version of Popstars, and became a member of the band Six. After 2 years with the band he moved to Los Angeles and starred in a pilot TV series, and had a small role in the Tom Cruise movie 'Collateral'. In 2005 he moved back to Ireland and began presenting on the daily entertainment show TTV. In 2006 he became the presenter of 2 shows on the Sky Digital channel Bubble Hits. Also since 2006 he has assisted Louis Walsh with his acts on The X Factor.
Easter Sunday -April 4th
The Restaurant, Sunday 8:30pm RTE ONE
The Restaurant is back again on my list of top TV picks, because it has been so so good this year i cant stop raving about it. This week Sarah Newman from Dragons Den steps into the kitchen to try and impress critics Tom Doorley, Paolo Tullio and guest critic Ross Golden Bannon. Last weeks episode with Tommy Bowe was great. I never expected him to be quite such a good cook. I know him pretty well as we live beside each other, so I've been slagging him all week about it.
Little Miss Sunshine Sunday 9.30pm RTE 1
I have to admit I've never seen this movie but I've been meaning to watch it for a long time. So I think its perfect Easter Sunday night viewing. Its the type of movie I love, in that it started off as a small independent project with a budget of just $8million, and ended up becoming a major box office success (grossing over $100million) and being nominated for 4 Oscars (and winning 2). It stars Steve Carrell, who you will know from the American version of The Office, and he's one of my favourite actors. So i will be sitting down on Easter Sunday, with a very large Easter egg and a cup of tea, to enjoy this movie finally.
Glas Vegas Final Sunday 8.30pm TG4
So this Sunday sees the final of Glas Vegas on Tg4. After 13 weeks of searching a winner will be crowned and head off to Las Vegas to perform in front of some of Americas biggest talent scouts, as well as pocketing €1000. I'm the first to admit there are an awful lot of talent shows on TV at the moment, but I'm glad to see that Glas Vegas has been such a success as i think we should be encouraging Irish talent as much as possible. And there's always the chance to laugh at some of the weird and wacky so called 'talents' that people possess.
The Pacific Monday 9:00pm Sky Movies
Where do I start with 'The Pacific' I have been waiting for this show since I first heard about it 3 years ago. It's from the same producers as Band of Brothers (Tom Hanks and Stephen Spielberg), which in my opinion is the best TV series ever made. The Pacific follows 3 US marines as they embark on missions throughout World War 2, in the pacific region. It's taken from the real life accounts of the war from the 3 marines who wrote books about their experiences when they returned home. I have had a sneaky look at this when I was in America a few weeks ago, and it has lived up to all my expectations. I know it's on sky movies and not everyone will be able to see it, but trust me on this, if you're sitting in on Easter Monday night, do not miss this series.
