Martin will talk through the following wines :

1. Name: M&S White Burgundy
Vintage: 2008
Country & Region: Burgundy, France
Tasting Note: White Burgundy is made using the Chardonnay variety and produces a versatile, dry white wine. There's light pear, peach apple and citrus fruit as well as a chalky mineral character.
Food Match: An excellent all rounder that will go with most fish or meat dishes or salads or creamy pasta.
Price: €9.45
Buy It: Marks & Spencer

2. Name: Rosecreek Sauvignon Blanc
Vintage: 2008
Country & Region: Marlborough, New Zealand.
Tasting Note: Classic kiwi Sauvignon with pungent aromas of gooseberry, passion fruit and citrus that leap from the glass and a crisp, dry but not sharp palate.
Food Match: Shellfish, fish, Thai stir-fries, asparagus or goat's cheese.
Price: €8.89
Buy It: Lidl

3. Name: Spanish Steps Bierzo
Vintage: 2007
Country & Region: Bierzo, N.W. Spain
Tasting Note: Made in what you could call an emerging region of Spain from a rare grape called Mencia, this shows lots of smooth rich plum and berry fruit with gentle liquorice spice.
Food Match: A good all rounder that would work as a party wine with snacks or at the dinner table with roasts or stews.
Price: €8
Buy It: Superquinn

4. Name: St Hallett Gamekeeper's Reserve Shiraz Grenache
Vintage: 2007
Country & Region: Barossa Valley, South Australia
Tasting Note: Many Australian brands from the anonymous 'South Eastern Australia' are sold at the price but this is from the highly regarded Barossa Valley and delivers real richness of flavour with plenty of bramble like berry fruit overlaid with black pepper spice. This wine won a trophy at the prestigious Decanter Magazine awards last year for best Australian Red Rhone Varieties under £10.
Food Match: With its 14.5% a.b.v this is a real winter warmer that would be excellent with hearty full flavoured winter foods like game, stews, pies or curries.
Price: €8.49
Buy It: Tesco
