Essential guide to bags this winter
Friday, 30 October 2009
Which bags are right on trend and what you should have perched on your shoulder this Autumn/Winter- we have the essential guide to bags for A/W '09!
The type of bag a lady uses during the summer months is a different one altogether from the winter options. Today we look at what those winter options are.
Holly White:- She's a Bag Lady!
26 year old Holly White graduated from Fashion Promotion from the prestigious University of the Arts London in 2008. Whilst living in London she busied herself in the fashion cupboards of Vogue and British Tatler magazine as well as working for Irish Designers Paul Costelloe and John Rocha and the fashion and lifestyle supreme PR company The Communications Store.
Now back in Dublin she writes weekly for the Irish Independent, and Social and personal magazine.
Having had the good fortune to appear in 2 series of the hit Irish comedy Dan and Becs and partake in the 6 part series Hollywood Trials she has buckets of TV experience which she plans on putting to good use in conjunction with her journalism in the world of Irish fashion and lifestyle presenting. She is delighted to be on the Afternoon Show.

Recessionary times call for people to invest in classic, practical items. Holly feels that the bags she has chosen embody that. None are too trendy and all are money well spent and have a timeless quality to them.
"This season, as always, Chanel is huge and with Lily Allen as the new face of Chanel handbags, and the recent film "Coco avant Chanel" these both bring the brand to a whole new audience.
Their classic is known as the 2.55 which comes from the inception date, February, (2) 1955, (55) which is portrayed at cheaper then the €1,500 asking price here in our middle section of medium sized bags.
Quilting is also very Chanel and that's why I chose the gold clutch. Clutch bags add a huge amount of glamour and are literally like jewellery for hands. Not entirely practical, they are more for going out, and boy have they been seen out!
Stars like Emma Watson, Kim Cattrall and Charlieze Theron have all been spotted recently with them.
Last up, the oversize is something practical that again is a great investment especially for women with children and all the paraphernalia they require toted around. It was kicked off by Katie Holmes carrying a huge Hermes Birkin bag around and has a "big is better" vibe. Despite its celebrity origins it is a continuing trend that everyone will embrace this season. The one I picked out had studding which is a typical throwback to the 80's.
