Having scoured the country for the best bargains during the month of September, you'd think they'd have all dried up. Back with yet more astoundingly good deals is the best bargain hunter in town, Dearbhla Lennon.

Each week in this series, we've been looking at newsworthy bargains, current offers and penny-wise prices, today we have 5 more.

Since the dreaded recession took hold, people no longer throw their dosh about willy nilly! The people of Ireland are now demanding more value for their hard earned cash and are not content any longer to put up with overpricing and unnecessary overspend. In this strand we'll be looking at everything from supermarket deals to online steals, prices at the pumps and frugal fashion finds.

Dearbhla Lennon:- there once was a deer hunter, now there's a bargain hunter.
Dearbhla is probably one of Ireland's best known dancers, having starred in four runs of "Celebrity Jigs N' Reels". Dearbhla Lennon began dancing at the tender age of two under the expert tuition of her mother, the legendary Móna Ní Rodaigh. She comes from a family steeped in traditional Irish music and dance, her entire family talented in one or other discipline.
Aged just 17, she was invited to join the original cast of Lord of the Dance, where she subsequently performed as principal dancer (in both female principal roles) for over five years. She then went on to become principal female dancer with "Riverdance- the show" in 2005.
Dearbhla graduated with a first class honours degree in Journalism and Media Communications in 2004. She was also awarded "Student of the Year" at Griffith College Dublin. After a brief period as a print journalist, having had a number of magazine cover stories, Dearbhla began working in television in 2005, both in front of and behind the camera. Currently working as a roving reporter for RTEs "The Afternoon Show" she has also recently been involved in an Irish language series for TG4 where she is being followed as she learns to play the concertina! Her most recent project as a judge on Irish Dance talent show "An Jig Gig" is currently airing on TG4, Sunday nights at 8:30pm
One of Dearbhla's favourite pastimes, is hunting for bargains and she is a self-confessed value vixen!

Travel deals

With the Bank holiday weekend fast approaching, we thought we'd check out some of the best last minute deals on offer.
We have found a few websites that offer last minute packages and deals. Bank Holiday weekends are notorious for when it comes to getting ripped off on travel. Airlines, hotels and travel companies up their prices round bank holidays to make the most out of the demand for travel. There are a few good deals out there however, provided you're willing to go on specific dates & times etc.

A. www.irelandathome.com
Great breaks in Ireland to be found here with a 4*, 3 bedroom house in Ardagh village which sleeps 5 people for just €275. Which would mean that each person is paying €18.30 each per night! Bere Island is a truly beautiful location and can be reached by ferry from Castletownbere in West Cork in just 20 mins.

B. www.1800hotels.ie
This is a great hotels website and they are offering fantastic deals on hotels in European cities like Rome, London, Budapest etc. I found a hotel in Rome which worked out at €29.61 per person per night (based on 2 people sharing) and with Ryanair flights (leaving on Wednesday, coming back Monday) coming in at 105.79 per person, your six day trip to Rome will come in at just €253.84!

C. www.skyscanner.net
Skyscanner is a fabulous website, particularly for those who are feeling a little adventurous! Here you can search for flights, leaving any Irish airport and going to absolutely everywhere. So if you don't know where you want to go but you have your dates- you can input these and the best deals will appear on screen to give you options on where you might be able to travel.

No more blades!

What an invention! A silicone base for razor blades that keeps them sharp for up to 150 shaves!
Available from www.4men.ie at €24.95

According to www.4men.ie (an Irish male grooming website):-

"Razor Pit is a unique shaving tool developed in Denmark for those who want to save a lot of money on their shaving needs. Razor Pit retains the sharpness of your razorblades, even after more than 150 shaves. This revolutionary blade sharpener will change your shaving experience as well as decrease the costly expenses related to it.

This sharpener utilises a small silicone plate that within a few seconds sharpens razor blades, making them as good as new. It removes soap, skin and hair that stick to the blade making them dull.

RazorPit razor blade sharpener is imperishable and by extending the razor blades life, you can do your bit for the environment and save yourself money.

Compatible with 95% of all razors, including Gillette Fusion, Gillette Fusion Power, Gillette Fusion Stealth, Gillette Mach 3, Gillette Mach 3 Turbo, Gillette Mach 3 Power, Gillette Mach 3 Power Turbo, Gillette Contour, Gillette Venus, Gillette Venus Divine, Gillette Vibrance, all Wilkinson Swords lines and an extensive list of other brands and models.

How to use:
. Apply a layer of shaving foam on the horizontal surface of the dry Razor Pit
. Press the blade of the razor down onto the soft surface. This must be done with a constant pressure onto the silicone-surface.
. Then push the razor against the conventional shaving direction while maintaining the pressure on the silicone-surface. This will ensure contact between the 'mat' and the blades, thereby cleansing the dirt and residue of the surface.
. Push the razor over the mat 3 to 4 times.
. Rinse both Razor Pit and razor under running water
. Place the razor in the Razor Pit, blade-side up

This quick and easy procedure will remove the dirt, residue and particles left on the blade after a shave, and all without damaging the blade itself.

Note:
The best result will be reached, when the soft surface of your Razor Pit is completely dry before the shaving-foam or gel is applied. If a gel is used as opposed to foam, this must be massaged into a foam before commencing the cleaning process, since the gel otherwise can be troublesome out through the blades of the razor."
