Mother's Day Makeover

What better way to treat your Mum than to give her the chance to look her best and make her feel really good about herself?

This week, in the run up to Mother's Day on Sunday March 22nd, we're treating some very deserving Mums to a special treat-a makeover by Ireland's top hair and beauty experts.

Mum #2:- Rita Cass
Rita is a old mum of three from Abbeyleix in Co.Laois. Her daughter Rachel (11) wrote to the afternoon show asking if we would be so kind as to give her mum a makeover as they had seen the appeal on the show and thought it was perfect for her mum.


Gary Kavanagh- Stylist to the Stars!
Having begun his training with Peter Mark many years ago, Gary Kavanagh has risen through the ranks to become Director of Training himself.

He has handled practically every major fashion show in Ireland and has worked with supermodels Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, Jerry Hall and Kate Moss. As well as this Gary also devotes much of his time to styling the stars such as Westlife, Boyzone and Denise Van Outen. No stranger to TV Gary has appeared many times before on The Afternoon Show.

Donna Fitzpatrick - Make up Guru
Donna Fitzpatrick MBA, MA, B.Sc. (Trinity College Dublin) CIBTAC
Creative and dynamic, Donna has amassed almost two decade's experience in the international cosmetics arena, where she experienced both the creative and business side of the industry.
Donna has trained as a make- up artist in New York, London and Milan. She built her reputation in New York where she worked as a chief make- up artist for Laura Mercier for the tri- state area, working on seasonal looks and various special events and promotions. She was also on the creative team of Estée Lauder New York, where she trained the national trainers and make- up artists of one of the largest make- up houses in the world.
While in New York, she worked alongside the world masters including François Nars (launching his brand at Saks 5th Avenue), Laura Mercier (at Laura Mercier launches and promotions) and Bobbi Brown (at various couture shows), indeed even being personally trained by Laura Mercier and François Nars.
She has acquired vast experience as a runway make- up artist and her list of famous cosmetic conquests include supermodel Tyra Banks and many other well- known models at New York couture shows, such as Donna Karen, Dana Buckman and Isaac Mizarhi.
Donna played a key part in launching Nars Cosmetics in Saks of 5th Avenue and also the global launch of Estée Lauder's Pleasures for Men.
Upon returning to Ireland she took residency as manager of Bobbi Brown in Brown Thomas. She has done the make- up for numerous magazine covers, including Rosanna Davison, Glenda Gilson, Kathryn Thomas, Fran Gosgrave, Ryan Tubridy, Craig Doyle and a host of other Irish models, celebrities, TV presenters and actresses. She has been a beauty broadcaster with a regular slot on the Orla Barry Show and has appeared on the Afternoon Show and Off the Rails. She has written numerous hair and beauty features for newspapers, magazines and Internet sites, such as consumer magazine iBeauty, The Star Newspaper, Salon Ireland and Irish Beauty,, and She is currently the beauty editor of Glow*.

Jan Brierton- Super Stylist
Jan is one of Ireland's leading fashion stylists, based in Dublin Ireland and represented by Morgan The Agency.
Her work has appeared in magazines such as The Gloss, Irish Tatler, The Life, Sunday Independent, The Irish Times Magazines, Prudence, RTE Guide ,Going Places, KT Parenting, Sky Delta(USA),Pure Magazine(UK), Confetti, Wedding Journal, Wedding Belle and Travel & Leisure Golf Magazine(USA)
She has been a regular contributor to shows such as Off the Rails and The Afternoon Show. Her music industry clients include EMI,Gift Grub, Ash, 8 Ball and JJ72.
In addition to her editorial work, she has styled for a number of high profile commercial clients; Gap; Tommy Hilfiger; Arnotts; Dunnes Stores; Sasha; Tesco; Florence and Fred; Rachel Mackay; Fashion House; Kate Cooper; Propaganda; Hobo; CocaCola; Lucozade; Eircom; Vodafone; Newbridge Silver; Avoca; Dylon; Reebok; Adidas; Mango; Robert Roberts; Superquinn; Charlestown S.C; Kalindi Lawernce; Paul Sheeran; Bord Bia; Hennessy; Irish Sea board and Ulster Bank.
She has produced and styled fashion shows for Arnotts, The Conrad Hotel group, Tesco F+F, L'Oreal and a number of charity groups.
She has also written fashion editorials for The Evening Herald, The Sunday World and The Meath Chronicle.
