From skyscraper heels to bedazzling bags- we look at the accessories making fashion headlines this Spring Summer.
"Spring Sumer 2009 calls for flamboyant, attention- grabbing details. Fashion is thinking big."
Vogue Catwalk Report, S/S 2009

Having already looked at some of the coolest Spring Summer catwalk trends, it's time to get to grips with the pieces that will finish off any outfit and bring it bang up to trend without too much cost or effort.
The global recession has had a huge influence on designers across the board, forcing them to focus more on accessories than garment collections. As people are more likely to update an existing outfit, accessories are bolder than ever.

Liam was also part of a team that won the L'Oreal colour trophy and image award in 2008, an award of which he is extremely proud.

"Spring's shoes are real works of art, bedecked in ribbons and feathers, beads, metallic ruffles and sharp studs. This season's styles are extreme"
Pippa Holt, fashion features associate, Vogue Catwalk Report S/S 09

Top trends in shoes for Spring Summer:-
Colour is huge in shoes this season, particularly bold, bright hues such as orange, red and purple. Beware of colour however as it can be loud- particularly on more mature ladies. If you're not bold enough for serious brights, opt for pink or maybe even white.
Floral designs are huge for S/S, carrying down to the footwear too- designers such as Dolce & gabanna, Philip Lim and Cacharel all featured floral footwear in their runway shows.
Balmain, Gucci and Rodarte featured 'heavy metal' look in their runway shows-incorporating buckles, zips, chains & metallic colours- golds & silvers in particular- creating an edgy feel to the footwear.

The Shoe boot has been around for the past few seasons but this season, it's been updated for Spring Summer by cutting away pieces of the shoe, creating open toes, cutwaway sides and open heels.

Vivienne Westwood, Anna Sui and Jimmy Choo all have Gladiatior style sandals back this season although these can be profoundly difficult to carry off, even for those blessed with slim legs!
Materials vary from canvas to leather- we're seeing a lot of reptile skins and patents- beware of cheap imitations though- they look exactly

Louboutin & Philip Lim used fantastic fringing on some of their shoes carrying through a trend that appears to be everywhere from bags to clothes and now right down to the boots. Embellishments like jewels, feathers, ruffles are also huge this season.

Bottom line..almost anything goes- the more outrageous the better- for Spring Summer 09!

Top trends in bags for Spring Summer:-
Bags this S/S vary from extremely practical (and very large) totes to tiny eccentric & embellished clutches for evening wear. Every woman into her style will find something that suits her style and taste.

Givenchy, Mulberry, Marni, McQueen, Balenciaga, Louboutin and Chanel all featured oversized totes, intended mostly for everyday use and subtle in designs.
Supersized bags were featured by Ralph Lauren, Anna Sui, Botega Veneta & DVF- not entirely practical as they're gigantic but look fabulous all the same.
Decorative clutch bags are very much on trend, with embellishments such as jewels, feathers, interesting shapes etc being the order of the day.
Lots of designers featured chain straps instead of the ordinary leather and we see many of the same materials being used in bags as we saw in shoes, from patents to reptile skins, canvas and metallics.
