Internationally renowned Irish fashion designer Orla Kiely is in Ireland to launch limited edition Tea Caddy for Bewleys. She is also the lady who designed the charity bags for Fashion Targets Breast Cancer that are on sale in Brown Thomas, and we have her on the couch today to give us an insight into being an top Irish designer in the worldwide market.
The Orla Kiely label was born during the 1990's when she was commissioned by Harrods to produce a range of hats. Later, the comprehensive range of bags was developed and the customer clientele expanded to include key London stores.
In I997 Orla Kiely teamed up with her husband Dermot Rowan and her collection was shown as part of London Fashion Week for the first time. This secured her first export order.
In 1998 the Orla Kiely range was showcased for the first time at Premiere Classe during Paris Fashion Week.
Her International client list expands to include Bon Marche Paris, Isetan Japan, USA, Lane Crawford Hong Kong, SAKS Fifth Ave and Brown Thomas Ireland, and her new design studio opened in Battersea and she began her Marks and Spencer Autograph range.
Orla expanded to launch knitwear range, and in 2002 the first Orla Kiely in store shops opened in London and Tokyo. She won the UK Fashion Export Award for accessories and in 2004 Sainsburys signed her up to design their homeware range called 'BY',
Since then she has been nominated for Best Accessory Designer at British Style Awards, her new accessories collection launched in collaboration with the Tate Gallery.
In 2005 she was the Irish Tattler Woman of the Year 2005 and also the VIP wallpaper range designer for Habitat.
This year she won the Gold Award for Exporter of the Year. She has teamed up with Brita to launch the Wottle - the world's first designer re-usable water bottle.
Her celebrity clientele includes Kirsten Dunst, Scarlet Johanson, Helena Christianson, Kiera Knightly, Susan Sarandon, Christina Ricci and Kate Bosworth are listed among her fans.

The Bewley's limited edition Orla Kiely tea caddy containing 160 tea bags will be available in all leading supermarkets from November 2008 and will retail at €6.99.
