MAN FRIDAY
Friday, 11 April 2008
Matt Di Angelo, ex Eastender and Strictly Come Dancing runner up, is today's Man Friday!
Matt trained at the Sylvia Young Theatre School in London. He started there at 13 and left at 16. There wasn't anyone else in his year that went on to find fame (so far!) but he was the year below Brit group, McFly! Matt is in good company, as past pupils at the school have included:-
. Billy Piper (Dr Who)
. Denise Van Outen (TV Presenter/Theatre Work)
. Emma Bunton (Spice Girl)
. Natalie & Nicole Appleton (All Saints)
. Mohammed George (Gus in Eastenders)
. Matt Willis (Busted, winner I'm a Celebrity Get me out of Here)
. Amy Winehouse
Matt was over the moon when he was cast as 'Deano Wicks' in Eastenders aged just 17. His father 'Kevin Wicks' was played by the legendary Phil Daniels. Having played the part of Deano for two years, he left in December '07.
Matt discovered another string to his bow on last year's Strictly Come Dancing (BBC1). He finished runner up to Alesha Dixon, with his Italian-born dance partner, Flavia Cacace. Matt has just completed the national tour.
He is a big Arsenal fan but probably best not to mention the result of Tuesday evening, he is still in mourning!
His grandparents on his mother's side are from Ireland (he believes its Mayo and Malahide) and Cypriot on his father's side. He has been to Ireland before and is looking forward to coming back.
In 2006 Matt was nominated for the 'Sexiest Male' at the British Soap Awards.
HIS TV AND FILM CAREER TO DATE ARE:
. Before Eastenders, he played Felix (Series lead) in I Dream for 19 Productions with Christopher Lloyd,
. Blair in Project C for Tiger Aspect, Lance in There's a Viking in my Bed for the BBC and
. Robbie in Harbour Lights for Valentine Productions.
. Derek in Telling Lies for Three C TV
. Short film for the COI called Laugh on
. The Bus
. On radio Matt has worked on Have Your Say.
