Tasting notes:
From the southern Rhône Valley, close to the historic city of Avignon, Châteauneuf-du-Pape is one of France's best known wines, and up to 13 different grape varieties can be blended to produce it. Tesco is mainly Grenache and Syrah, with a small proportion of other varieties. Grenache is widely planted in the southern Rhône and produces herbal-flavoured wines that are full-bodied, although relatively light in colour. This rich, soft, but powerful wine is from the well-known Caves St Pierre near the small town of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. It's a great match with turkey, duck and goose but it will also go well with nut roasts.
