Why this wine was chosen for this dish any wine stories or awards : This Pinot Grigio is youthful and hence has a wonderful freshness which will offset the richness of the cream sauce. Given that the wine is unoaked with the emphasis on pure fruit flavour this should complement the pumpkin and add an extra fruity dimension. Most importantly due to the subtlety of the flavours' in the dish, this wine will not dominate but rather complement.
The house of Rizzardi dating back to 1445 is breathtakingly beautiful but more importantly makes sensational wines under the stewardship of Giuseppe Rizzardi. This is a wonderfully fresh, intense and aromatic Pinot Grigio which has layers and layers of flavour. This wine has been Wine of the Week with a number of the Irish wine press.
Tasting Notes: Aromatic nose with floral notes and some hard fruits such as pear. On the palate, this unoaked wine has great mouth feel and has benefited from lees ageing which gives this a richness. This wine has great length and is a great example of a top Pinot Grigio.
