Wine Of The Day 21st November 2007
Wednesday, 21 November 2007
The wine of the day is chosen to match Éamonn's dishes!
Name: Tesco Finest Oak Aged White Burgundy
Price: €9.84
Available: Tesco Nationwide
Grape: Made from 100% Chardonnay grapes from the chalky chayey south/south eash slopes in the Cote Challonnairse area.
Perfect this dish:
Slight nuttyness from the oak and the creaminess would go great with the Ragout of Mushrooms and Jerusalem Artichokes. From a warm, ripe vintage, this golden, oakaged wine has a floral aroma and smooth, almost creamy taste.
Buyer Hints:
Don't be put off if your not normally a Chardonnay or Oak - aged Chardonnay fan in particular. As opposed to it's new world counterparts, this wine is a refined, classy and reserved. Because it's from a cooler climate, the volume has been turned down on the usual fully ripe, sticky tropical fruits. This is a true bargain.
