Golden straw yellow in colour, the bubbles are fine and the mousse is both discreet and persistent. The nose, very expressive and open, is both fruity and bready. It exudes aromas of peach, white flowers (may blossom, acacia) and vanilla pod. On the palate this lively fresh wine is at once in harmony. This is a delicate wine with flavours of fresh fruit and honey.

From the first wave of European settlers in Marlborough, the Forrest family has grown deep roots in the region. This historical connection and tradition drew Drs John, Brigid and family back home to Marlborough in 1988 from successful international careers in biomedical research. Vintage 1990 saw the first Forrest wine, and immediate success with their 1990 Cabernet Rose that was awarded the Directors Trophy for Champion Rose/Blush at the 1990 Air New Zealand Wine Awards. The colour is very dark, the colour of very ripe cherries. It has a powerful fragrance of red fruits with underlying okay aromas. The palate is quite powerful with a virile attack. Have impression of tasting a barrel sample. This wine is vigorous, rich, still fruity and has quite pronounced tannins.
