The wine is an intense cherry red colour. On the nose it is predominantly red berry fruits with a hint of liquorice. On the palate it is concentrated and well balanced with the red fruits coming through too. The wine is soft, without being dominated by heavy astringent tannins. A well-made simple and straightforward wine. Excellent value for money.
Why this wine was chosen for this dish any wine stories or awards
The wine is ideally suited to complement a fairly simple and rustic dish and to not overpower it and comes from the southern part of the Rhone which is just above Provence. France is coming back into fashion now with producers putting a lot more effort into the quality of the wines.
Jehan-Guillaume is a very old French name which in English means John-William.
