Capsule Make-Up Wardrobe With Triona McCarthy

Tuesday, 22 May 2007

Triona is here to show you how you can downsize your cosmetic needs and still look great, creating a capsule make-up bag containing the essential items required to keep you looking fabulous on your holiday.

New restrictions on hand luggage mean that space in your bag is at a premium. Liquids must all be declared and presented in a sealable, transparent plastic bag and must all be under 100ml. Thousands of pounds of cosmetics and personal hygiene items have been dumped into airport trash cans by passengers caught off guard by the ban.
Our challenge to Triona is to take two make-up bags and downsize them to fit all your essential holiday cosmetics.

. You are what you drink
At high altitudes with re-circulated air, skin can get really dried out so drink lots and lots of water before the flight.
Once the in-flight beverage service begins, stick to water and juice and avoid caffeinated beverages like coffee, tea and fizzy drinks because they are too dehydrating.
Stay away from dehydrating beverages like beer, cocktails or wine.

. Moisturise before you go go
Apply a heavier-than-usual moisturizer and serum before you leave home.

. Marathon Makeup
Choose products that have staying power like longlasting lipsticks or a light stain.
Try waterproof mascara - these tend to last longer.
