LUSCIOUS LIPS FOR VALENTINES WITH DONNA FITZPATRICK
Make- up artist Donna Fitzpatrick is here to show us some top tips in how to make your lips so temptingly deliciously luscious, your man just won't be able to help himself.
Saint Valentine's Day falls tomorrow. It is the traditional day on which lovers express their love for each other; so why not do it with the perfect red lips!
When it comes to kissable lips, avoid lip liner, waxy reds, gluppy glosses and concentrate instead on prepping the lips, plumpers, fixers, permanent stains and light sheer formulations that won't leave any tell- tale signs around either of your mouths. So pucker up girls and let's get kissing!
the lips do not contain any sebaceous glands, they are particularly prone to becoming dry and chapped. To prepare the lips for product, it is vital to gently exfoliate the area. As the skin in the lips is so thin, normal facial exfoliators just won't do. Instead, Donna like to use an old tooth brush to buff away the dead skin cells. Using small circular motions with a soft brush cover the whole area, until lips are exfoliated. Gently wipe clean
Lip 1: Pale Model
There is a common misconception that red heads should avoid red lips at all costs. Our very own Blathnaid proves this is incorrect. Red lips can look very sensuous on typical Irish skin. With natural blue or cold undertones in typical Irish skin go for berry shades, which work best with Irish skin and also tend to make teeth look whiter. At all costs avoid warmer, tomatoey shades, which make the face look washed out and the teeth look very yellow. For kissable red lips look for stains, which will not transfer easily. As darker shades absorb rather than reflect light, the lips may appear smaller. To counteract this, prepare lips with a plumping treatment. Use some strategically placed gloss on the plumpest part of the lower lip to attract the light and make the mouth pop. There are some plumpers on the market, which can include mild irritants, such as chilli oil or menthol, which increase vascular flow to the area, creating temporary increase in lip volume. However, these work by irritating the skin, so be very, very careful when dealing with your man's 'delicate areas' when wearing such glosses. An alternative would be to do a lip volumising treatment before applying usual lipstick or gloss.
Too Faced Lip Injection Mask
Apply product as you would a lipstick for 30 minutes before removing. Mild irritants will have gotten to work increasing lip mass. The resultant increased vascular activity will have also created a redder looking lip by causing the blood to flow to the lip surface. Intensify the redness with a red or berry stain, such as Origins Pinch Your Cheeks, a dual stain for lips and cheeks. A strategic placement of gloss in the fullest part of the bottom lip will draw light to the area, creating the illusion of a fuller pout.

Lip 2: African Model
African ladies are lucky enough to have natural beautiful pouting lips that many of us Irish girls would kill for. However as the lips do not contain any sebaceous glands, they are particularly prone to becoming dry and chapped. To prepare the lips for product, it is vital to gently exfoliate the area. As the skin in the lips is so thin, normal facial exfoliators just won't do. Instead, Donna likes to use an old tooth brush to buff away the dead skin cells. Using small circular motions with a soft brush cover the whole area, until lips are exfoliated. Gently wipe clean. As lips will be dehydrated at this stage, immediately use a collagen lip treatment, such as Collagen Booster plump & polish Lip Treatment. This will restore moisture, fill any fine lines and prepare the lips for colour. Use a light, shimmery formulation on the exfoliated lips to reflect light and make the lips look tantalising. Dark black skins should avoid dark lips. Dark lips against dark skin just does not work- the lips will blend in to the canvas rather than pop. Light pinks work much better on black skin as light on dark creates a stronger contrast. Black ladies should avoid dark berry reds at all costs, especially waxy or matt lipsticks. Glossy reds with a slight yellow under hue works better on lighter skinned African ladies, such as Tyra Banks. However, pinks tend to look great on all African skins, which is why Donna has chosen a pink shade for today's model.

Lip 3: Tanned Model
Reds are not ideal for tanned or Latino- type skin. If you must, go for tomatoey reds, which also have warm undertones to go with the natural golden or yellow undertones of Latina skin. However, this colour tends to make teeth appear more yellow than they actually are, so don't touch if your teeth are not very white. Red glossy formulations can be more flattering on Latina skin, but dusky pinks work best. A mid- tone dusky pink will pick up and flatter the warmth in Latina skin. To make the pink kissable, make sure it is a light formulation, and try to use a fixer to keep the product on your lips and not on your man's.
While lipstick will make our lips look more kissable, the product itself can be messy and unpleasant, leaving kissers with a tell- tale smear around the mouth. There are both fixers and pre treatments on the market, which can help keep the product where it is supposed to be- on YOUR lips. Guerlain Divinora Liplift is a pre-treatment, which will not only help fix your lipstick in place, but will also hide imperfections and smoothes and protects with the added bonus of SPF. For Valentine's Day, how appropriate is a product called Kiss Kiss! Made for kissing, Guerlain's Kiss Kiss Gloss is an ultra comfortable lip-gloss with mirror- like shine for voluptuous lips. With an in- built professional quality brush, the gloss is available in 10 pearlised shades. No 865 is a beautiful natural pink, which is very flattering for most skin tones.

Tips on Treating Beard Rash
Following our tips above, after all that kissing, there is a chance you might end up suffering from beard rash. Beard rash occurs when the rough bristles aggravate the soft delicate skin around the mouth. Get your man to shave well and make sure he avoids aftershave applied to the face. Should you get a rash there are a number of things you can do to your skin to treat it. I love to use Elizabeth Arden's Eight Hour Cream to bathe the area in moisture. It has anti- septic properties to help soothe the area. Apply a thick mask to the area and allow to penetrate. After a half an hour or so get a stiff towel and using small, gentle circular motions rub the area to detach any dry skin or flakes. Blot area using a tissue, leaving a residue of product. The area will be red, but settle in a few hours. Apply the cream to the area that night, avoiding perfumed products and make- up if at all possible. If you have to ware make up go for a yellow based foundation which will counteract the ruddiness of the skin. The skin should be back to normal the following morning. Alternatively, buy him a present of a professional wet shave for his Valentine's Day Present.
