RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS - CAITLIN KILLEEN
Caitlin Killeen was nominated by her mum Denise to receive a Random Act of Kindness from The Afternoon Show this Christmas.
About Caitlin Killeen
Caitlin is now 3 and a half and from Enfield, Co Meath. She was born at 25 weeks gestation with a 20 percent chance of survival. As soon as she was delivered she was taken away from her Mum while they resuscitated her.
Caitlin was 12 inches long and weighed just 2 ounces. The doctors told her parents they could lose her at any minute. It was very hard for the other children, Ben, Lauren and Amy as they could only see her at week-ends.
Caitlin had Septicaemia, chronic lung disease, PDA of the heart, several blood transfusions and a grade 2 brain haemorrhage. She was 78 days old when she had laser surgery on both her eyes. She had heart surgery in Crumlin Hospital when she weighed only 15 ounces.
When she finally came home from hospital after almost 6 months, she had an oxygen machine, nasal prongs, an apnoea monitor and several medicines. The muscles in her thighs were very weak so she had a little red walking frame to help her walk at 1 and a half years old.
She is now a beautiful 3 and a half year old. She still suffers with lung disease and wears glasses! She brings so much joy into the lives of everyone that knows her.
-The Afternoon show will makeover Caitlin's bedroom into the bedroom of a princess courtesy of Harvey Norman. (Bed, locker, bed covers, curtains)
Caitlin will also feel like a real Princess because Fitzpatricks castle hotel are bringing them for a weekend break in their castle!
