Herbal Healing Hangover Cures with Nicky Treacy Kohler

It's party season and the only bad thing about partying is the feeling of the day after the night before. Well have no fear Nicky Treacy Kohler is here with her herbal hangover cures.

Nettle Cigarettes
If you are going to smoke, smoke these herbal cigarettes. Being a smoker can account for 50 percent of the severity of your hangover, so the herbal cigarettes will reduce your hangover by half

Feverfew Tablets - Repair the head
Take 2 tablets before you go out, 2 tablets when you come home and 2 the morning after your hangover. (Passion flower tablets will also have the same effect.)These are also called the flower of relief. Nicky will show tablets. It acts as a tonic to the sore head, alleviating the headaches you get from a hangover.

Milk thistle tablets - Repair the liver
Take these tablets three days before you go out and the day after your night out also. They are a liver regenerator. Modern research shows Milk Thistle contains a range of phytochemicals which make the plant particularly useful for people suffering hangovers and for people dealing with toxic overload, either from exposure to poisons & toxic chemicals; from taking drugs for other conditions.

Breakfast - calm the stomach
Eat porridge oats, add lavender and honey with a banana on top. Oats neutralise acidity levels in the body and help absorb toxins. Since a hangover is the result of the "poisonous" effects of alcohol, a bowl of porridge might help relieve the symptoms.
Porridge also contains one of the highest levels of soluble fibre of any cereal. Soluble fibre is essential for healthy digestion. Since alcohol depletes sugar levels, the slow-releasing carbohydrates in porridge help redress this.
The banana helps calm the stomach, and with the honey, builds up the depleted blood sugar levels. The milk soothes the stomach and rehydrates your system. Bananas are also rich in the important electrolytes, magnesium and potassium, which are severely depleted during heavy drinking.

Lavender is soothing and tranquilizing.

Tea and Coffee -Coffee for the liver, cardamom and ginger for the tummy
Dandelion coffee is a liver restorative. Drink it the day of your hangover. If you don't like coffee, drink meadowsweet, cardamom (nourishing on stomach) or ginger tea (prevents you throwing up).

Take your multi-vitamins (B vitamins) - restore your energy
Take the vitamins before you go to bed and let them work their magic while you sleep. If you forget, take them immediately upon arising. B-Vitamins are important in aiding the carbohydrate (alcohol) metabolizing process and in dilating blood vessels. B-vitamins will help restore your energy level. You will need to take a high-potency B-complex supplement for this remedy to work (50-75 mg of B-complex twice a day, hopefully once before bed after indulging).
