Overview

The new series of Super Garden returns with 5 new budding designers battling it out to secure a coveted show garden spot at Bloom 2017, Ireland's premier garden festival.

Our first Designer Ashling Harrison from Rathgar is helping 20 year old Oran Grainger surprise his mum Anna with the Super Garden of her dreams. It isn't just the homeowners Ashling needs to impress, she is hoping her Scanadanavian inspired Hygee Design will go all the way to Bloom. With just 5 weeks to transform the garden, Ashling will need to pull out all the stops to impress the Super Garden judges.

Successful business owner Ashling Harrison lives in Rathgar with her husand Bart and their two sons, Zac (14) and Nathan (6). Ashling has been at the helm of Head Hunt International Recruitment for almost thirty years, but is happiest when up to her neck in mud in the garden. Since moving into her family home in Rathgar 3 years ago, she has transformed her overgrown 1.6 acre garden into a spectacular cottage style space. Ashling is currently studying horticulture and dreams of become a successful garden designer. When Ashling takes something on, she wants to be the best. Super Garden would give her the validation she needs to know she has what it takes to go all the way to the top.

 

Home Owners: Oran (20) and Anna Grainger (50), Stillorgan, Dublin

Occupations: Student and Secretary
Oran applied to Super Garden to surprise his super mum Anna for her 50th birthday in March. Anna is a single mum and has been a source of strength and admiration to her son as he battled glandular fever and more recently, Type 1 diabetes. Oran feels that his mum sacrificed a lot for him over the years and now desperately wants to give something back.

 

Design: Hygge Garden

Ashlings Super Garden will be a Hygge design inspired by the Danish lifestyle concept, which evokes cosiness, togetherness and appreciating the simple things in life. With clean lines, soothing colours and soft textured planting, Ashling is aiming to create a cosy sociable environment for relaxing with family and friends.
