Limerick Native Leanne Moore is crowned RTÉ's You're a Star

Limerick woman Leanne Moore has been crowned winner of RTÉ's You're A Star 2008. The judges were all in agreement that Leanne had been on a truly amazing journey throughout her time on Yas, from the shy girl who walked into the auditions to the confident woman that blew the audience away in tonight's packed Helix Theatre. Leanne Moore is truly a stary. She has walked away with a cash prize of ¤50,000 and ¤10,000 worth of Roland music equipment after a tightly fought competition, which saw Leanne and Robyn Kavanagh in the final sing off. Leanne beat off 14 other acts to clinch the coveted top spot.

Songs performed tonight were:

Leanne Moore - "Run" by Snow Patrol, "Let's Stay Together" by Al Green, "Piece of My Heart" by Faith Hill.

Robyn Kavanagh - "Living for the City" by Stevie Wonder, "No One" by Alicia Keys, "Valerie" by Amy Winehouse.

Deirdre Archbold - "Show Me Heaven" by Maria McKee, "Chain Reaction" by Diana Ross, "I Can't Make You Love Me" by Bonnie Raitt.

"We're delighted with how successful the series was this year. It attracted huge viewership figures for RTÉ One and showcased some new and exciting talents. We wish Leanne the best of luck in the future." - Julian Vignoles, Deputy Commissioning Editor for Entertainment, RTÉ.

"Of all 6 series this has been the best by far in terms of general talent. There were a number of changes this year and I am delighted with the new panel, house band, set and they have all helped make this the best series to date." Larry Bass Executive Producer.
