Deirdre Archbold

Hi my name is Deirdre Archbold and I'm from Clonakilty in West Cork.

You're A Star has been a big journey for me. I always wanted to audition but just never had the guts to do it, plus I could not, for the life of me, convince my poor husband to come with me! I'd watch it year after year and secretly be kicking myself that I hadn't gone for it! This year I thought to myself, 'right Dee, no more excuses', but I never dreamed that I'd get this far! I really can't wait to sing in the Helix! It must be an amazing feeling to sing to such a large live audience. I get butterflies just thinking of it.

My favourite moment so far was the foghorns at bootcamp! Only kidding! I guess it was when Peter, Lorna and I were told that the judges were undecided about us and that we had to fight for our place at bootcamp. Michelle took me aside and gave me some great advice on what to sing and how I should dress etc. She supported me even though she wasn't my mentor and I really appreciated that. Because of that she is my favourite judge.

My favourite song to listen to is Hallelujah sung by Jeff Buckley. His voice is just like melting chocolate, if you can understand that!!! My favourite song to sing though is Over the Rainbow, Eva Cassidy's version. It's just so full of emotion; I get goose bumps singing it! I love songs that tell a story so I'd be a big fan of Don Mescall, Damien Dempsey, Cara Dillon and Eva Cassidy. I also love Jeff Buckley, Queen, Aerosmith and U2.

I still can't believe that I'm in the final 15! I hope I make everyone at home proud. Singing in the Helix will be a dream come true for me so if you think I deserve to continue in the competition please vote for me. Thanks a mil!
