Mary graduated from the Dublin Institute of Design in the
mid-nineties, qualifying as an interior designer, she then
went on to join NBK Designs, an award winning Architectural
practice, as interior designer with the company.
She gained experience in commercial design - mainly retail,
bars and nightclubs, while also working many high spec interiors
for private clients.
Five years ago she set up her own interior design practice
- Mary Ryder Designs, specializing in contemporary interiors
for the residential and commercial sector.
Mary Ryder Designs employ two interior designers and a project
manager, most of their design projects tend to be bars, retails
units, office and residential fit-outs.
Some of Mary's recent projects include fit-outs of penthouse
apartments in Dalkey, complete refurbishment of a large period
home in Monkstown, a Bar/Restaurant in Edinborough, and a
boutique style bookshop in County Kildare.
Mary, whose personal design style is both innovative and eclectic,
enjoys refurbishing modern and period properties, adding quirky
details when she can, such as her trademark "Secret Door"
that she cleverly disguised as a bookcase for her main bathroom
door on Showhouse.
She pays particular attention to commissioning furniture and
artwork from Irish designers and craftspeople whenever she
gets the opportunity.
In her Showhouse property her dining room table was hand crafted
by a Dublin based furniture and joinery company. Her favorite
room to design tends to be bathrooms, where she likes to combine
stylish and sexy ware and fittings, with practicality and
convenience.
Interior architectural services offered by Mary Ryder Designs
include spatial remodeling, furniture and lighting design
and a complete fit-out service for showhouses and rental properties
for investors.
Mary's ultimate challenge would be a high-spec hotel complex
with a spa, restaurant and nightclub, preferably located somewhere
in the Orient!
