Maxine O’Connor

Hailing from Co. Kildare Maxine O Connor lives in Newbridge. She has been a self employed interior designer for seven years.

Her path into interior design was an interesting one –,studied Art and Design in Limerick and Dublin. She was part of a part of an in store design team in Arnotts in Dublin. From there she worked alongside an interior designer which eventually led to her being self employed.

Recent projects include show apartments in Ruan Beig in Klidare town.

When designing a property for showhouse viewing Maxine feels that you need to appeal to a wide range of tastes, with minimal furnishings to enhance the living space. With one feature to give the “wow” factor within the buyers budget.

Maxine is a big fan of individuality- an eclectic mix of styles with an odd bit of kitsch thrown in depending on the clients needs. Other current trends that she/he has embraced are different aspects in many designers styles eg. Country/contemporary/classic to reflect the clients idea of their living space but as a designer to give the edge or professional touch

When it comes to colour Maxine likes soft muted non evasive tones .Adding an accent colour to one wall or soft furnishings can enhance the look.

In her property featured in Showhouse Maxine tried to achieve an unusual interior look to compliment the dramatically different log cabin’s exterior.

Current design trends Maxine is a little tired of are the repetitive use of browns and creams with the lack of imagination. This style has become plagiarized.

Maxine would sum up her design style as “individual , easy to live with and fun !”.

Her ideal dream project would be to marry contemporary design with old style architecture. If you would like to contact Maxine you can do so on: maxineoconnor@hotmail.com
