Jackie Crowley

Originally from Carlow, Jackie Crowley lives in Waterfall, Cork with her husband William and 2 children Jack and Kate. Jackie worked in the Science industry for many years, but always had a keen interest in Interiors. When she moved to Cork, having lived previously in Thailand, Singapore and London she decided to study Interior Design, and has been a self employed Interior Designer for three years. When creating a concept for clients Jackie feels it is important to consider what the client wants to achieve, size and location of the project and the budget. She uses a detailed questionnaire as part of her initial consult.

Jackie feels that fabric and window dressings are an integral part of design. Curtain poles can now be termed as a piece of furniture. Texture is also important adding variety, depth and interest to schemes.

Lighting Jackie says is an area many people tend to overlook when designing their homes. There is such a fabulous choice available now. It is worth spending extra time planning the Lighting in your home as it is key to creating the mood of a scheme. Colour is important and Jackie is not afraid to use it. In small houses however she would advise to stick to a neutral colour and add colour on feature walls and thru the use of accessories.

Jackie feels the areas in our homes that need most attention are the Living Room, kitchen and Master Bedroom. These rooms are central in all homes. Jackie is passionate about Art and feels it is worth investing if you find a piece of art you really love. Her fondness of art can be seen throughout the house where she assigned a local Killeagh artist to her Showhouse.

When designing a house for Showhouse viewing Jackie feels it is very important to listen to the developers brief. The design should be specifically tailored for the target market. She feels it's important to show new trends, as this makes the house individual. Jackie loves to mix modern and traditional to achieve a comfortable, stylish interior. She has a few surprises in her Showhouse, the pole system in the kitchen and walk thru wardrobe into the en-suite. Her dream would be to own an Interior Shop, that would provide complete Interior fit-outs. A small boutique hotel would be nice to design also. Recent projects of Jackie's have been traditional houses, a modern office block in Dublin and Georgian house in Limerick that now houses sleek modern apartments.
