Can SAPS survive on potato crisps?
Our two renegade scientists from SAPS are back. They get together at a secret location to unravel the complex mysteries of the universe. Their aim is to push the very limits of human understanding through SAPS - the Scientific Analysis of Potato Snacks. Nutrition in crisps This week's experiment is to see how long the human body can survive on just potato crisps. "Conventional science has identified little nutritional value in the crisp but what if the human body could find ways of evolving to utilise hidden nutrition within the crisp?" asks Dr Noel Wavin. Prior to the experiment, our favourite scientist, Sir Charles Bingus-Cockroft, eats some of the nutrients he will be lacking during the experiment. For vitamin B he eats a banana; for vitamin C, oranges and for potassium, he eats lots of Brussels sprouts. The experiment starts, but the bacteria in his gut soon starts to react with the Brussels sprouts. Watch the video to find out why the endurance test suddenly gets abandoned and whether the experiment was just a load of hot air in the first place?
