Fintan investigates. frisbee flight
The members of the Irish Ultimate Frisbee Team have a problem - they can't get their frisbees to fly. Unless SCOPE's hilarious detective, Fintan Brennan, can figure out what's going wrong, Ireland won't stand a chance in the upcoming World Frisbee Championships. Fintan investigates the case and his secret source on the street gives him some interesting information. But will he "catch on" quickly enough to save the team? Frisbee Frisbees work in a similar way to wings on an aircraft. As it flies through the air, the shape of the disc makes the air travelling above it go further than the air passing below it. As the air above speeds up to do this, its pressure drops, compared with the air below the disc. The difference in pressure creates aerodynamic lift. On a much larger scale, the same principle applies as the air rushes across the wings of an aircraft. So your toy frisbee has something very important in common with a passenger jet.
