Liberty X's Tony gets a blast from his old Commodore 64
Tony from successful UK pop band Liberty X was desperate to be re-united with his Commodore 64 computer in SCOPE's Blast from the Past. Why?

"The Commodore 64 was just such a big part of my life and my brothers' lives as well," he says. "We'd a choice between cartoons or the Commodore 64 and usually the Commodore 64 won out."

The Commodore 64 is a home computer that was popular in the 1980s, especially for playing games. It could be plugged into a TV set and became one of the best-selling computers of all time.

Blinking cursor

When you loaded the computer up, you got a blinking cursor and you had to type instructions into the computer to load and run the programmes. There was no mouse or windows software.

The Commodore 64 is 8,000 times less powerful than a normal PC nowadays. Even most mobile phones are more powerful than it!

Liberty X

Liberty X was formed in 2001 when the five band members were runners up in the UK reality TV show competition Popstars. They did not win the competition, but they all wanted to be in a band so they formed their own. Tony is originally from Galway.

The band's first single was Thinkin' It Over and since then, they have had successes with singles such as Doin' It and Just A Little.
