TEXAS - ERIN BARNARD

Erin is 22 and she will graduate in Radio/Television Broadcast Journalism later this year. In addition to her studies Erin works as a Student News Director/Anchor/Producer for Channel 7 News in Huntsville, Texas.

Irish roots for the Texas Rose are Cong and Knock in Co. Mayo and counties Sligo, Limerick and Antrim.

While her news activities keep her very busy Erin finds time for Guinness and Jameson her two dogs, reading, films, cooking and good wine, Irish dancing and almost every kind of music.

“Huntsville in Texas is an interesting place to work” says the Dallas-born Rose, “everybody will share an opinion on a news story I may have been working on yet they smile, allow you right of way as you drive and just about do everything to exemplify the Texan nature”.

Erin describes herself as “A kind and loving individual but with a quirky sense of humour. I like to make people laugh and I believe I have an ability to lighten sticky situations by cracking a joke or two. I’m determined, ambitious and I will succeed. Things get done by assertive people and I am one of those!”
