LONDON - GRÁINNE CANNY
Gráinne is 23 and a Primary School Teacher. A graduate in Corporate Law from NUIG with a post-graduate qualification in Primary Education, Gráinne is totally committed to a career in teaching, “a dream job and very fulfilling”.
Born in Ilford in Essex, Gráinne and her family returned to Ireland 9 years ago and the family lives in Kinvara, Co. Galway.
Hobbies for the London Rose include cycling, swimming and attending matches and Gráinne plays camogie and football with Father Murphy’s GAA Club. A ‘Gaisce’ award, many certificates for life saving, coaching a team for the Special Olympics and years of Irish dancing complete the picture. Gráinne lists ‘meeting people and socialising’ as her likes. Dislikes are smoking and computer screens. Favourite entertainers are Mary Black (who is appearing at the Festival), Sharon Shannon, The Corrs, Madonna, Robbie Williams and the Black Eyed Peas.
Gráinne describes herself as “a dedicated person, something I pursue in all that I do. I am ambitious but I consider myself as kind and warm hearted. I believe my family and friends find me easy to approach and a good listener. I have a good sense of humour and I’m proud of my Irish culture and heritage”.
