DERRY - CATHERINE PEOPLES
Catherine is 24 and a Nursery School Teacher in Dublin. A native of Greysteel, Catherine’s primary degree was in History & Theology and she has a Master’s in Theology. Her career ambition is to qualify as a Primary School Teacher and work with young children with learning difficulties.
Travelling is an important part of Catherine’s life. She has just spent most of July in Tanzania and Zanzibar including a safari in the Serengeti, last winter she spent 2 weeks in Chamonix but, “due to balance issues”, it is not clear that skiing will feature this winter!
Other hobbies for the Derry Rose include reading and volunteer work with children. Catherine describes her taste in music as “Eclectic. U2, Ocean Colour Scene and Snow Patrol would be my favourite bands”.
Speaking about Greysteel Catherine said “I love the friendliness of my home town. The great community atmosphere and those incredible views of Lough Foyle and Derry”. As a young lady who visited the White House as a guest of First Lady Hilary Clinton we asked Catherine to tell us who she would like to spend a day with and she told us she would “love to hang out for a day’s racing with Hector and Tommy Tiernan”.
