BELFAST - AISLING McDOWELL
Aisling is 22 and has just completed a degree in Law & Politics at Queen’s University Belfast. Aisling’s late father was the well-known sports journalist Liam McDowell and Aisling admits to some uncertainty as to her future: pursue a career in law or take up journalism?
Aisling has 4 brothers and 2 sisters and, with Mom Marion, there will be a large family group In Tralee cheering on the baby of the family. Since last autumn Aisling has been studying Irish at Belfast’s Cultúrlann McAdam Ó Fiach and though she thoroughly enjoys it, she says she is “a long way off fluency!”
Films, reading, country walks and eating out are among the Belfast Rose’s hobbies and she regards her part time job with a promotions agency to be so much fun that it too is a hobby. A member of Queen’s Drama Society Aisling likes to sing as well as to act. Asked her likes and dislikes Aisling replied “it is the small things like holding a door or being courteous on the road that greatly help to brighten the day.”
“In addition to spectacular scenic beauty, Belfast is becoming more vibrant every day as community relations are strengthening and regeneration makes the city so cosmopolitan” the Belfast Rose emphasises.
