ARMAGH - BLÁTHNAID CARLIN
Bláthnaid is 19 and has completed her first year as a medical student at Queen’s University Belfast. From Lurgan, Bláthnaid has 3 sisters. Dad, Paul, and Mom, Sinéad, are both educators. Bláthnaid is a chorister with the Dromore Diocesan Youth Choir; she has toured with ‘Rhythm of the Dance’ (including dancing at the Croatian Eurovision Song Contest) and toured America as a violinist with the South Ulster Youth Orchestra. She is also a member of the QUB Netball Team.
Bláthnaid’s favourite performers are Jean Butler and Michael Flatley. Likes for the Armagh Rose include the colour pink and following the Armagh Team, with Paul McGrane taking pride of place. Asked to describe herself Bláthnaid replied “I am a happy person. I feel that I am also a lucky girl, I have managed to fulfil all my dreams to date!” She admits to being “competitive and ambitious, striving always to be the best.” Her career ambition is to qualify in medicine and be in General Practice while continuing to “dance, sing and make music”.
“I love Lurgan, it’s a small community and people there love to see others doing well. I have had great support in my town since I became Armagh Rose” Bláthnaid enthused.
